This crane is based on one of the electric dockcranes preserved at the Industrial Museum in Bristol Harbour. They were built at Stothert & Pitts’ works in Bath. The works no longer exist but the company still makes dockcranes as part of the Clark Chapman group.
The cranes were fitted with Toplis level luffing gear which allows the jib to be extended or retracted without the load rising and falling.
Perhaps I will animate this in version 2?
